2004 ACHIEVEMENTS

Attendant Training:

  • 21 individuals were trained to become Home Health Aids – 100% completed the class.
  • 18 individuals were trained to be State Tested Nurse Assistants, 88% passed the state test.
  • 100% of placed individuals reached retention.                                
  • 80% of individuals trained by Attendant Training are still in the home health field one year later.
  • The average consumer satisfaction rating is 4.9 on a scale of 5. 

Community Employment:

  • 130 individuals found work through the help of our Cleveland and Elyria offices.
  • 100% of the positions met 5/7 of our quality standards: meets desired goal and skill level, matches desired hours, provides acceptable wages and benefits, reasonable travel time and opportunity for advancement.
  • 69% of individuals referred for placement found jobs and 81% of those reached retention.
  • The average wage consumers are earning is $8.33 per hour.
  • The average consumer satisfaction rating is 4.5 on a scale of 5.

Benefits Planning, Assistance and Outreach (BPAO):

  • 1157 individuals contacted the BPAO program for services, 86% followed through with their benefits analysis.
  • 37 community presentations regarding benefits planning were held receiving an average 86% rating of very good or excellent.
  • The average consumer satisfaction rating is 4.8 on a scale of 5.

The Doris Brennan Center for Disability Education and Advocacy:

  • 12 consumer, family and service provider workshops were held to educate individuals in personal and systems advocacy.
  • 34 advocacy group meetings were held to discuss significant disability related issues, 75% of participants worked to educate legislative staff on the issues.
  • 190 individuals attended disability related community education forums and 86% reported increased knowledge as a result of the training.
  • 53 individuals were provided assistance in applying for, or appealing denials from, Social Security or other disability benefits, so far 17% have received approvals.
  • The average consumer satisfaction rating is 4.6 on a scale of 5.

Independent Living Services:
(Lorain and Erie Counties)

  • 223 consumers were provided independent living services.
  • 83% of participants in personal and systems advocacy activities reported an increase in self-advocacy skills.
  • 1084 individuals called for information and referral resources, 91% of those individuals received follow up calls to ensure the information provided was helpful.
  • Individuals who received independent living skills training achieved 69% of their chosen goals.
  • 100% of consumers received peer support services.
  • 79 individuals received low vision services, 76% achieved their goals and the remaining continue to receive services.
  • The average consumer satisfaction rating is 4.7 on a scale of 5.

Job Link:

  • 94% of students achieved their goals in independent living and employability skills.
  • 94% remained in the program throughout the year.
  • 94% learned about and utilized community resources.
  • 88% participated in summer work.
  • 71% of graduates found employment and 100% of those reached retention.
  • The average consumer satisfaction rating is 4.6 on a scale of 5.
