Linking Employment, Abilities and Potential (LEAP)

LEAP: Annual Report: 2004 Annual Report

2004 Annual Report

LEAP continued to reach new pinnacles of accomplishment and impact in FY2004, in the midst of challenges and obstacles faced by organizations serving the disability community.

LEAP is one of only a few nonprofits delivering disability services with the Independent Living philosophy of consumer choice and control, while promoting social justice and organizational accountability.  We fill a unique roll in the nonprofit community which recognizes us for fulfilling our mission with compassion and integrity.  In 2004, LEAP’s service, advocacy, and outreach demonstrated the organization’s uniqueness, impact and integrity.

LEAP’s board and staff are immensely proud of the organization’s continued achievements.  Increasingly, LEAP has become the “go-to” organization on the most critical issues facing persons with disabilities, in many ways framing and elevating the public awareness around issues of disability and social justice.

Moreover, in FY2004, LEAP took major steps toward improving our internal operations, increasing the activism and involvement of our board, and restructuring some of our program activities, thereby increasing LEAP’s effectiveness and presence in the community.

The next few pages detail LEAP’s 2004 work with people with disabilities focused on our mission of employment and independent living through our philosophy of advocacy, social justice and accountability.  We invite ideas, suggestions, and direction to make LEAP’s work better, stronger, and more useful to persons with disabilities and those concerned about the disability communities access to opportunities for self-sufficiency, equality and justice.
