2005 PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Comprehensive employment and community living services include:

  • Benefits Planning, Assistance and Outreach (BPAO) project, which covers 15 counties funded through the Social Security Administration; 1074 individuals served
  • Attendant Training, including Home Health Aid, State Tested Nurses Assistant (STNA), Dining Assistant training programs, and a Personal Care Assistance Co-op funded by the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council, 37 trained
  • Employment Services, including job searching, placement and retention services with referrals from Workforce Development, Veteran’s Administration, Rehabilitation Services Commission, County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, Workers Compensation, and the Mental Health Board; 129 placed into jobs
  • Job Link, nationally recognized PEPNet awarded Youth Development and Transition program, as well as a High School/High Tech program funded by the Ohio Governor’s Council; 97 served
  • Disability Resource Centers in Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties (The Doris Brennan Center for Disability Education and Advocacy) include independent living skills training, low vision services, and disability determination assistance, as well as an Advocating for Public Policy Change project funded by the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council; 1617 served and
  • Assistive Technology services, including a developing collaboration with AT Ohio.
 
2005 CARF surveyors, Gail Lieby and Michael Mamot said, “LEAP is jam-packed with passion.  It was felt as soon as we walked in the door.  It is evident in your passion for Doris’ vision, in your passion for your mission and in your passion to assist people with disabilities increase their independence and self-sufficiency.”  “LEAP is a model for the abilities of people with disabilities.  LEAP is setting a National standard by changing the lives of people they serve and should be recognized for the work they do with people with disabilities by people with disabilities."  Read more...
