Presidential Candidates on the Disability Issues
The AAPD, ADAPT, NCIL, and SABE got together and created a comprehensive questionairre for the presidential candidates to answer. You can go to the AAPD's 2008 Presidential Election Action Center to download the questions, link to the candidates' websites, and read all of the current campaing and election news. You can also see a matrix comparing wach of the candidates answers to the questionairre.

How to Register to Vote
The next presidential election is more than a year away, but it's never too early to prepare. The first step in making a difference on Election Day is registering to vote! If you are not registered, you need to download:
The Voter Registraion Form is a writable-PDF file meaning it can be completed on the computer and then printed out. You are not able to save your completed document. You can also print out a blank copy and fill it out by hand. Irregardless, you'll need to sign and date the registration form and return it to your county's Board of Elections. Here are the addresses for all of Ohio's Boards of Election. For more information, go to the Secretary of State's website.
The Ohio deadline for registering for this year's Novemebr 7, 2007 election is October 9, which is 30 days before the election. The 2007 election may offer candidates for mayor, school board, or judges depending on where you live. There are also certain to be issues on the ballot effecting either the whole state, your county or your city. The current schedule for the 2008 election includes a Democratic and Republican primary on March 4 and the general election on November 4. The registration deadline for the primary election will be February 1, 2008.
Ohio Disability Vote Coalition
Only three complaints have been reported to the Secretary of State's office on Voting Access in Ohio. It is important that the Secretary's office know of problems anybody with a disability mave have had. If you have a disability and had a problem at your polling place, please call 877-767-6446 (Secretary of State's office) or 614-728-4709 (Office of Media & Voter Serivces).
