Our Programs and Services are Designed for Persons with Disabilities

Center for Personal Assistance: Home Health Aide/Personal Assistant training is an employment skills training program for persons interested in working as home health aides, attendants, and personal assistants. State Tested Nurse Assistant (STNA) program is offered to qualified applicants interested in working within the health care field. Dining Assistant Training is offered to persons interested in working as certified Dining Assistants. Individualized job matches are made based on the trainee’s interests, strengths, and abilities.

Community Employment: Provides vocational rehabilitation services to consumers to increase marketability, locate employment that matches their employment objective, and provide services to ensure job retention. 

Doris Brennan Center (DBC) for Disability Education and Advocacy -   A broad-based program designed to assist persons in remaining active in the community. Services through this center include:

·        Disability Resource Center: Awareness, assistance and access to services and resources related to disability

·        Disability Benefits Assistance: Information and education regarding disability determination, and benefits eligibility and application

·        Independent Living Assessment and Skills Training: Assists persons with disabilities to improve their ability to live as independently

·        Quantum LEAP: a recreation program for people with disabilities

·        Low Vision  Services: for individuals 55 years and older in Lorain County

·        Outreach & disability education; advocacy groups that promote self-help and self-advocacy

Youth Transition – Offers:Job Link, a School to Work Transition Program – A year round transition program that assists student with disabilities to make a successful transition from school to employment and adult community life. High School/High Tech, a community-based enrichment program designed to expose students to a variety of technology-related career opportunities, ready them for post-secondary education, and encourage them to achieve long-term success.

Public Policy Center - Advocates for and promote changes in legislation and policies to include opportunities for full inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of community life.     

Assistive Technology Center - Provides information/education about available technologies; holds classes and workshops, and performs individualized assessments and training on assistive technology which enhances an individual’s ability to live within their community and/or to maintain employment.
