1981 - LEAP incorporated as a consumer directed and controlled (501-c-3) corporation in Northeast Ohio.
1986 - LEAP established local employer partnerships to foster greater employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
1990 - LEAP began educating employers on the newly-passed Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
1992 - LEAP begins job placement services including job seeking skills training, job development, coaching, follow along services and employer education.
1994 - LEAP's Job Link program prepares high school students for employment and community living; receives PEPNet Award in 2001.
1996 - LEAP adds Social Security Consultation Services to assist consumers in securing needed benefits.
1998 - LEAP receives Center for Independent Living (CIL) status, becoming one of only seven CIL's in Ohio.
2001 - LEAP promotes the civil rights of people with disabilities. Awarded State recognition as Public Policy Change Center in 2005.
2005 - LEAP becomes first State disability partner in the Federal Aging and Disability Resource Center program.
2006 - LEAP receives the Ohio Association of Non-Profit Organization's "Standards of Excellence" award and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) "Freedom to Compete" award.
2007 - LEAP launches Quantum LEAP, a community-based recreation program to promote integration for people with disabilities.
2008 - LEAP recives the Department of Labor's New Freedom Initiative Award.
2009 - LEAP becomes a Home Choice Transition Coordinator, assisting individual in nursing homes to return to community-based living.
2012 - LEAP chosen to address policy issues that create barriers to community living in the areas of Assistive Technology, Transportation and Personal Care Assistance.
2016 - LEAP celebrates 35 years of service and wins the "GCPD Advocacy Award" from the Ohio Governor's Council on People with Disabilities.
