Glas selected to lead agency following retirement of longtime director Melanie Hogan

Beth Glas became the third executive director in the history of Linking Employment, Abilities and Potential (LEAP) on October 1, prepared to build on the Northeast Ohio nonprofit’s 40-plus year legacy of advancing a society of equal opportunity, regardless of disability.

Glas’ selection was the result of a nine-month search by LEAP’s Board after receiving notice in January from Melanie Hogan of her intention to retire September 30 after 29 years of dedicated service in the role.

“Beth has a unique organizational perspective and is well-equipped to continue the momentum of our mission as a Center for Independent Living (CIL) focused on people with disabilities,” said Suzanne Bloomfield, LEAP Board President. “She has strong administrative and programmatic experience and is a staunch advocate for people living with a disability in Northeast Ohio.”

Glas is a highly respected leader who brings a wealth of leadership skills and a strong history of advocating for people with disabilities to LEAP. She possesses over 18 years of progressive nonprofit experience. Most recently, she served as executive vice president with Maximum Accessible Housing of Ohio, where she successfully worked to make Cleveland more accessible to and inclusive of people with disabilities.

“I’m thrilled to join LEAP, which is a leading advocate for people with a disability,” said Glas. “I look forward to working with the staff and Board to help meet the most pressing needs of the community while advocating for improved polices at the federal, state and local levels.”

Glas holds a master’s in nonprofit management from Case Western Reserve University and a bachelor’s from Syracuse University.
