Adult Services

LEAP’s employment services promote the independence and self-sufficiency of adults with disabilities. Employment specialists consider the strengths and concerns of each individual and using this input devise an individualized plan of action to lead to employment that is appropriate and meaningful for that person. Plans can include such services as community-based assessments, work adjustment services, and job coaching.

Services include the following areas:

• Competitive employment services help individuals find positions for which they are qualified and which are located in integrated settings that include employees with and without disabilities.

• Customized employment services help an individual find a position that is customized to their skills and interests and that also meets the needs of an employer. This position could be one created specifically for the individual or could be self-employment.
  
  
• Supported employment services provide work training in an integrated setting through the assistance of job coaches, assistive technology, specialized job training, and individually tailored supervision.

Fee-based Employment Services Now Available

LEAP now offers comprehensive employment services for those individuals who may want to participate in a job search outside of established county referral systems and instead use a fee-based model to help them secure employment.

LEAP’s dedicated employment staff hold certificates in specialized employment models for people with disabilities, such as Customized Employment and Employment First, and have helped dozens of consumers to secure stable employment with local companies including KeyBank, Great Lakes Brewery, and University Hospitals.

• sharpen job skills 
• develop a career path 
• express personal insights and opinions 
• work with a dedicated team 
• be in charge of an customized employment plan

• Independent living skills training helps people develop skills needed for success in their personal lives, such as time-management, organizing, budgeting, and meal planning.

• Disability benefits assistance helps people with disabilities enhance their economic standing and self-sufficiency.
