Activities Assistant

Part-time
From $16.00 - $17.00 an hour

LEAP is looking for a part-time (16-20 hours/week) Activities Assistant to provide assistance at a variety of social, wellness, enrichment, and recreation activities for adults with disabilities. Possible activities include bowling, bocce ball, aerobics, volleyball, walking club, softball, and dances. Activities take place at locations throughout Cuyahoga County, the majority of them for 2 – 2 ½ hours on weekday evenings, with occasional Friday and Saturday events.


The Activities Assistant will work closely with the Community Education and Activities Coordinator to ensure that participants are provided an opportunity that is enjoyable and safe. The Activities Assistant will also be responsible for participant attendance documentation and tracking; activity scheduling; assisting with program and new activity development; program outreach; and marketing. This is a remote-hybrid position.


Necessary qualifications include:

  • High school diploma, general education diploma (GED), or at least two years of relevant, supervised work experience providing personal care, activities, or assisting with activities in a public health, human services, or other community service agency, and experience advocating on behalf of individuals with chronic illnesses, behavioral health conditions, physical disabilities, or developmental disabilities.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with older adults/persons with a variety of disabilities is strongly preferred; experience in adult education activities, adaptive and social recreation or therapeutic recreation for older adults and individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Physical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands is required.

  • 4 days per week (usually Monday-Thursday), with an occasional Saturday
  • Evenings for 2 – 2 ½ hours at various community locations (activities) with some daytime office and/or remote hours (administrative duties)
