Tiffany: Fostering Disability Inclusion

Our employment services program thrives with the support of our dedicated business partners. One standout partner is Tiffany, an Assistant Store Manager at Burlington’s Ohio City location. She is a passionate disability advocate dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

A Personal Connection

Her commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities is deeply personal. With a brother who has a disability, she intimately understands the challenges many individuals face.

This personal connection is her driving force to create an environment where everyone feels valued and capable. She firmly believes that “everybody deserves a chance.”

Transformative Experiences

At Burlington, Tiffany has the privilege of witnessing consumers on her team blossom into their roles firsthand. As they start, they receive comprehensive training on various tasks, from cashiering to front door security and backroom staff. This training equips them with diverse skills while immersing them in the business, leading to truly transformative experiences.

Many consumers begin feeling overwhelmed and quiet but gradually become confident and outgoing. Tiffany says, “It’s amazing to see the change.”

Highlights Working with LEAP Consumers

Tiffany says two LEAP consumers stand out to her: Terra and Julia. Terra is a Shortage Control Associate (SCA) at Burlington. She is known for her exceptional customer engagement skills. Tiffany often praises Terra for creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Julia began at Burlington through our work assessment program and excelled during the training. Tiffany was impressed by Julia’s enthusiasm and ability to learn new skills quickly. Although Julia was not yet 18 when she finished the program, Tiffany is eager to hire her once she meets the age requirement, showing her eye for talent and commitment to nurturing potential.

A Collaborative Spirit

As a LEAP partner, Tiffany emphasizes the need for companies to do the whole program. She says it takes a little extra effort but is worth it in the long run, saying, “It’s helping us help them.”

Her willingness to go the extra mile showcases her dedication to supporting our partnership. She deeply appreciates our staff’s collaborative spirit, which ensures everyone involved has the best outcome and makes us all proud to be part of such a supportive team.
