Francine's Community-Based Assessments
An initial step in the employment journey for many consumers is testing their employment skills. One way our employment team does this is by conducting a Community-Based Assessment (CBA).
What Is A Community-Based Assessment (CBA)?
A Community-Based Assessment allows our consumers to demonstrate their abilities in different fields and determine the best fit. These assessments equip consumers to understand their strengths and find meaningful employment.
Some consumers will go through more than one to see what job works best for them. Let us introduce you to Francine, who has participated in two work assessments with us.
Francine's Journey
Francine was matched with LEAP Employment Specialist Adam Walls, who was crucial in guiding her through her employment journey.
St. Augustine Nursing Home
When Adam and Francine first met, she expressed interest in working with food. With this in mind, Adam knew he wanted to leverage LEAP's partnership with St. Augustine Nursing Home for her first work assessment.
At St. Augustine Nursing Home, she prepared delicious, healthy meals for residents, such as fruit cups and salads. While she appreciated the experience, Francine also wanted to explore opportunities.
Burlington
Through ongoing conversations with Francine, Adam learned she wanted to try retail. With this in mind, he reached out to his long-term connections at Burlington for her second Community-Based Assessment.
During her assessment at Burlington, Francine gained experience in sales floor etiquette. She worked in several departments, reorganizing and stocking racks and shelves.
For two weeks, Francine started her day at 9 a.m., where she would receive her job assignments. Next, she organized the sales floor and adjusted hanger sizes for sales floor racks. Francine tackled each task enthusiastically.
Moving Forward
With her LEAP job coach, Godfred Amankona, Francine learned new skills. Through her experiences, Francine has gained knowledge in multiple fields. She continues working with her employment team to determine her next steps.
We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Francine!
