Keith's Triumph: Securing The Right Job At Fresh Thyme

Over the last year, Keith has worked with LEAP Employment Specialist Adam Walls to secure a part-time job. His goal was to find a position in retail stocking.

Frustration In Previous Roles

During their time together, Keith expressed frustration in his previous roles, which limited him to a single department outside his interests. Understanding his frustration, Adam worked with Keith to build a new résumé, practice interview skills, and apply for job leads. Adam also attended job fairs with Keith, allowing him to speak to employers about different roles available in Cleveland.

Unexpected Employment Obstacles

Keith accepted a stocking position at a local retailer in Spring 2024. Although he loved his role, his employer at the time was forced to cut hours, so Keith had to search for new opportunities. Following this, Adam and Keith met weekly to apply for new employment.

Fresh Thyme Market

In August 2024, Adam became aware of an opening at Fresh Thyme Market through the Employment Collaborative of Cuyahoga County (ECCC). When Keith learned about the position, he immediately knew he wanted to meet with them! After working with Adam and ECCC, Keith had the opportunity to interview twice with management for a grocery stocking position.

Since December 2024, Keith has been working as a grocery stocker. In his new job, Keith works in multiple departments, such as dairy, produce, and grocery. He enjoys stocking because he discovers new products and likes to work with his hands.

During this time, he has found Fresh Thyme to be the perfect fit for him in other ways! He expressed that he likes the quiet environment and friendly team and enjoys helping the customers.

Working with LEAP

When Keith began working at Fresh Thyme, LEAP offered job coaching to help him settle into his new role. He is grateful to his LEAP team because “They helped me learn new things. So, I can work on my own.”

He also expressed that he feels he gained the confidence to ask for help when he needs support. After a few weeks of coaching, Keith no longer needed daily support and has received positive feedback from the staff at Fresh Thyme.

Keith said the best part of working with LEAP was “their willingness to stay true to their word and staying with me throughout the entire job search.”
