Spotlight on our Amazing Quantum LEAP Aerobics Instructor
Thank you to Alicia who has been running our aerobics activities for the Quantum LEAP program for over 10 years!
Alicia knew that there was a need for fun exercise activities for persons with developmental disabilities to help them stay healthy. So when LEAP needed a new instructor in 2007, she decided to take on the challenge of teaching different aerobic styles for our participants.
Learning how much the participants enjoyed the dance segments, she began to focus on incorporating more dance into the routines. "I was so happy to do this and looked forward to every Thursday to see the joy and positive affect it had." One special moment Alicia recalled, was a participant who worked incredibly hard to train and learn the moves so that he could do the routine on his own w/his caregiver.
Although, she was ready to retire from her role this year, she has graciously stepped up to run a few virtual classes during this difficult time, so that persons with disabilities could connect, and continue to workout in their own home.
Said Jayme, Recreation Program Specialist, "Her interactions with the participants are phenomenal, she engages them, helps them, and has that special touch. We are blessed that she has been with us for as long as she has been. She is apart of our extended Quantum LEAP family."
Thank you Alicia, for all of the joy, passion, and dedication you have brought to our participants and to LEAP over the years!
During times like this, our mission is more critical. You can help us with your donation. Thank you!
